Tahitian 8 String Ukulele Banjo
Ukulele is in good condition. Has scratches and dents consistent with moderate wear and tear. Ukulele has been tested and works great.
The Tahitian ukulele is a lute-like instrument with 4 courses of 2 strings each. The tuning is like that of a Hawaiian ukulele with the 2nd and 3rd courses tuned an octave up. Traditionally, fluorocarbon fishing line is used for the strings giving the ukulele a very bright tonality. The bridge is mounted to a thin piece of wood that goes over the top of the soundbox making its method of sound production similar to a banjo with a sound hole carved into the rear. This particular model appears to be a handmade ukulele with no markings. The neck and center of body are made from a darker wood while the sides of the body, headstock, and top wood are made from a lighter wood. The fret markers are carved into the fretboard and filled with paint.
